M3U converter
Convert playlists between M3U, JSON and CSV in your browser. Preserve channel metadata, export a URL text list and review spreadsheet-safe CSV handling.

Updated
The iiPTV M3U converter changes a channel catalogue between M3U, JSON and CSV, with plain text address export available when you need a simpler result. It converts records and metadata, not the video at their addresses. A different output extension will not transcode media or make an unsupported source playable.
Use the M3U converter to prepare spreadsheet edits, inspect structured data or rebuild a playlist from compatible rows. Select the actual input format before processing, inspect the preview and download the required output. Keep the original when another application depends on uncommon tags or exact text formatting.
On this page: select formats, understand fields, handle CSV safely, follow an example, save privately, and questions.
Choose M3U converter input and output
M3U input is useful when you already have channel descriptions followed by addresses. JSON input supplies structured records, and CSV input supplies a header row and named columns. The M3U converter must parse the chosen structure; renaming a file does not change the format inside it.
All different-format paths between M3U, JSON and CSV serve a purpose. Use M3U to JSON for application data, CSV to M3U after spreadsheet edits, or JSON to CSV when another tool needs columns.
Plain text export keeps addresses rather than a full metadata model. Choose the URL extractor when filtering a group or adding names is the main task. The M3U converter is the better choice when the next operation depends on structured channel fields.
Understand M3U converter field mapping
Channel name, stream URL, group, logo and guide identifier represent different information. The M3U converter maps supported fields into the selected representation instead of treating every column as interchangeable text. Review your header spelling when importing a spreadsheet prepared by another application.
Extended data can carry entry attributes, directives and playlist-header information through iiPTV's structured model. An M3U converter round trip preserves that model, not every original space or independent comment. Another application's simplified JSON export may already have discarded information before iiPTV receives it.
Catalogue data versus media manifests
M3U8 commonly indicates UTF-8 text, while HLS also uses M3U syntax for media manifests. The M3U converter works on channel catalogue records. It does not turn a list of video segments into an adaptive ladder, encode video or supply missing rights to a source.
If your input is an HLS master or media manifest, use the HLS analyzer to understand it first. The M3U converter is not a shortcut for changing streaming protocols, and a valid output document does not prove that a browser can decode its referenced media.
Use M3U converter CSV output carefully
CSV fields can contain commas, quotes and embedded newlines when correctly quoted. The M3U converter handles that structure rather than splitting every line at every comma. RFC 4180 documents the common quoted-field conventions relevant to exchanging these files.
Spreadsheet software can interpret certain cell prefixes as formulas. The M3U converter adds a protective text escape to relevant exported values and marks rows escaped by iiPTV so its importer can reverse that specific transformation. The escape may remain visible in another application; review the result rather than stripping it indiscriminately.
Preserve the escape marker and metadata columns if you plan to return the file. A M3U converter cannot reliably distinguish an intentional leading apostrophe from a removed safety transformation after arbitrary spreadsheet changes. Keep a backup and compare a small sample before editing thousands of rows.
Try an M3U converter round trip
Imagine a channel named News, Local in the Community group. Exporting to CSV must keep the comma inside one name field. The M3U converter should not interpret that title as two columns or shift its URL into the group field. Quoted data and a header row make the difference visible.
Edit the group in the spreadsheet, retain the URL column and save a supported CSV file. Load it back with CSV selected as input, then choose M3U output. The M3U converter rebuilds the catalogue structure around the accepted records; it does not contact the channel just to format the file.
For an address example, https://example.com/live/news.m3u8 is a placeholder rather than an included broadcast. The M3U converter works equally with your own authorized catalogue, but any signed address remains sensitive in every output format. JSON punctuation and CSV quotes are not encryption.
Review M3U converter results before saving
Local file and pasted-text transformations occur in browser memory without an account. The M3U converter does not create a cloud library, and refreshing or closing the page can discard unsaved work. Download a copy when a useful conversion is complete, keeping its input alongside it for comparison.
Imports are limited to 5 MiB and 10,000 records. The M3U converter shows a bounded preview for responsiveness while working with the accepted dataset. Do not assume that the first visible rows are the whole output, and use clearly scoped smaller copies when input exceeds the supported limits.
Explicit remote imports or later checks and playback contact their selected hosts; ordinary page analytics and preferences are separate. The Privacy Policy explains these boundaries. Before sharing an M3U converter result, review paths and parameters for passwords, usernames or tokens that survived the format change.
M3U converter questions
Why does the M3U converter reject my CSV?
Check for a usable URL column, balanced quotes and consistent field structure. An unrelated table is not automatically a channel catalogue. Reduce the input to a harmless reproducible row when seeking Support, rather than sending a complete private subscription export.
Can the M3U converter test the result?
Conversion alone does not probe addresses. Use the stream checker for response evidence, or open an accepted channel collection in the player through its one-time in-memory handoff. You still press Play and need supported media.
